Bradshaw then built a trail that went from Los Angeles through the desert to the gold mines. Indian Wells became an important stop along the trail since the Alexander and Company stage line used the path to transport miners. The road was abandoned soon after due to competition of the Southern Pacific Railroad, only to be reactivated by the Wells Fargo Company the year after.
